Thing 23 - Finished! - Drum roll please

I have learnt heaps of new things and tidbits. Can be frustrating at times, this learning process, but worthwhile in the end. Took some time to do the 23 things, but I have finished.

Favourite thing, would have to be Flickr and the image generators. I like photography so this was interesting as well a fun.

Blog - I would not hesitate to do in the future now. I could use for a travel journal in future, be a good idea. Library Thing was good and I'm still using but I find it frustrating. I would like something simpler. I may look into this.

I came across an email the other day for a similar learning tool for teenagers. Still 23 things. I must have a look, I may learn more. I want to see if it has the same learning tools as this one.

Would I do it again? Yes. I would be hesitant at first but I know that it would be a good learning curve.

Thing 22 - Books online
I had a look at Google Reader and Project Gutenberg and the Australian Gutenberg version too. I searched and looked at photography and got sidetracked to early Australian history when in Australian Gutenberg. I found this was very interesting looking up Matthew Flinders journal and the like. I preferred the Gutenberg website better than Google Reader. These books/journals are out of copyright and can be viewed in full which would be very helpful for studying history and researching. I did have a quick read of the copyright laws and I understand it is for downloading of books. I would look into it further if I should download.
How do these e-book websites benefit our libraries? If the websites were linked to libraries to show you were hard copies are located, this maybe of use to some people. They help to track the hard copy down.
Copyright, I donot fully comprehend. I understand if you give Google Reader permission for users to download your book you will negotiate a percentage rate of a cost for this. I think that is fair. Time will tell and copyright issues will be sorted.
Information access - I think if you don't get out there and extend information access you will be left in the dark. You will become extinct. Libraries have to keep up with progress.

Thing 21 - Podcasts
I was not that interested in doing this one. I thought it would be similar to Youtube. Anyhow, I had a look at Podcastalley.com and I thought the website did not look that enticing. I googled 'library podcast' a came up with podbean.com which looked more modern and inviting and you could search by tags.
Podcasts for some learning would be good. There were podcasts just for listening which would be great, not having to read everything. This would be good for learning new languages, listening to the correct pronunciation, etc. If you have your podcast on your mp3 player you can listen and do something else at the same time, like going for a walk, travelling in the car/public transport. Good for students. It is a new version of the old audio books but can be applied and received in so many numerous ways.
I didn't do an RSS feed, I thought I have spent long enough.
By doing Thing 21 I have broaden my horizons to what is out there and what is available.
